THE POSITION

Are you ready to use your clinical expertise to strengthen health services? As a Nursing Services Consultant with the Department of Human Services, you will play a key role in supporting health practices across community programs. This position provides meaningful opportunities to advise staff, review medical issues, and support safe, effective care. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Northeast Region by offering clinical consultation, reviewing medical incidents, and strengthening health practices within intellectual disability programs. As a Nursing Services Consultant, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clinical Consultation: Provide guidance to county and provider staff regarding health care regulations and policies
  • Policy Development: Assist in creating regulations, bulletins, policies, and procedures related to health care
  • Health Liaison: Serve as the point of communication between regional and central offices on health-related matters
  • Incident Review: Review, process, and close medical incidents and ensure follow-up on treatment and documentation requirements
  • Mortality Oversight: Examine death-related documentation, coordinate necessary actions, and complete mortality reviews in the incident system
  • Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) Coordination: Review assessments, maintain regional OBRA records, and support transitions from nursing homes to the community

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional nursing experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements:
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
