Position Summary
The Harvest Safety Technician plays a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment during harvest operations. This position is responsible for conducting detailed line audits, identifying unsafe acts and conditions, and driving timely corrective actions. The role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable intervening when safety concerns arise and collaborating closely with operations and safety leadership.

Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 pounds; need to be able to read and write in English, must be able to use stairs, Experience with computers. Good communication and people skills. Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
* Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? No. We provide (over the glasses) safety glasses but not prescription safety glasses.
* Any exposure to common allergens? Yes: Dust, Insects
* Will non-local/remote candidates be considered? Must work on site, can drive from anywhere to get here. Must have reliable transportation.

* Is the candidate a minor? must be 18+

* Screens: Must clear both Drug & Background screens
* TOBACCO FREE FACILITY - No vaping, smoking, chew allowed onsite.
* Incentive for duration of this job posting : Opportunity for monthly attendance bonus if perfect attendance achieved.

* Timekeeping - Worker or supplier to submit: Worker is provided with the applicable task code.
* Orientation starts at 7:30am Monday. Then they will start at 7:00am every other day their first week.
* Shift 2: +$3 differential
* Shift 3: +$2 differential
Schedule update (as of 8/11/26): Will be moving to 12 hour shifts.
3 -12 hours and a 6 hour day for a week total of 42 hours instead of 6 - 8 hour days. Same plan we worked last harvest.
Wednesday is still considered Day shift. It is just a half day. Since we do not have 3 different shifts, we have day shift & night shift. With Night shift getting the $2 / hr and starts after 6:00pm
Front half employees:
Sunday - Tuesday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
Wednesday 6:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Back Half employees:
Wednesday 12:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Thursday - Saturday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Key Responsibilities
Safety Audits & Observations
- Conduct routine and detailed "line walks" across all operational areas during harvest.
- Identify unsafe behaviors, hazards, and at-risk conditions.
- Document findings and communicate observations to relevant personnel.
- Follow through to ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
Intervention & Corrective Actions
- Actively intervene when unsafe acts or conditions are observed.
- Coach employees and operators to reinforce safe work practices.
- Partner with supervisors to drive immediate and long-term corrective solutions.
Operational Support
- Develop working knowledge of key operational roles and processes.
- Provide occasional support by filling in for line operators as needed.
- Assist in maintaining workflow continuity during peak harvest periods.
Safety Program Support
- Ensure compliance with:
- Isolation of Energy (LOTO)
- Job Safety Analyses (JSA)
- Permit systems (hot work, confined space, etc.)
- Verify that required safety documentation is completed accurately and consistently.
Industrial Hygiene (IH) Support
- Assist in industrial hygiene monitoring activities (e.g., noise, dust).
- Support data collection and reporting efforts.
- Help ensure compliance with exposure limits and safety standards.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Site Safety Supervisor and Training Technician.
- Support safety initiatives, training reinforcement, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in daily start-up meetings and help promote a strong safety culture across the site.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to speak up and intervene in unsafe situations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and accountability for follow-through.
- Adaptability to changing priorities during harvest operations.
- Frequent walking, standing, and exposure to production environments.
- May include varying shifts, including extended hours during harvest seasons.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic industrial hygiene functions such dosimeter & dust monitoring.
- Assist with required program inspections (i.e. emergency lighting, eye wash) and visual inspection requirements (i.e. ladders, fall protection, fire extinguishers).
- May assist with preparation of reports, graphs, and presentation materials to communicate key safety statistics. Periodically assist with scheduling, workflow planning, and other issues as they arise.
- Willing and able to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, warehouse).
- Willingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks.
- May require shift work.
- Research/investigate moderate to complex safety issues and recommend/implement corrective actions to solve the issues.
- Must be able to manage several projects at a once while meeting established deadlines.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- May be assigned to other tasks based on business need.
