As a Therapeutic Activities Aide with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you help individuals take part in programs that strengthen independence and build confidence. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position guides individuals as they participate in therapeutic, recreational, and vocational activities designed to support personal life goals. As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Instruction Assistance: Support individuals as they complete therapeutic, recreational, and vocational activities that strengthen skills
  • Activity Oversight: Monitor participation during programs, Center wide events, and off grounds trips and provide assistance and support
  • Mobility Support: Aid individuals with varying communication and movement needs during daily activities, programming, and community employment tasks
  • Work Area Care: Maintain clean conditions, manage supplies, and handle equipment to support safe and sanitary conditions
  • Residential Collaboration: Assist residential staff with delivering and monitoring treatment, training, and related services when assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) and 2nd shift (1:00 PM to 9:00 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will have rotating break days.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
