DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role supports daily library operations and helps maintain a safe, organized environment for inmates and staff. As a Corrections Library Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
- Library Operations: Monitor daily activities and assist patrons with finding and using library materials
- Worker Oversight: Guide inmate workers, review attendance, and help with training and scheduling
- Service Coordination: Manage call-outs, track inmate accountability, and support housing unit library services
- Material Circulation: Process interlibrary loans, check requests against restrictions, and assist with copying needs
- Daily Communication: Answer questions from inmates and staff and provide helpful information
- Collection Support: Recommend new books and periodicals to strengthen the library collection

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of clerical experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency Guidelines.
- Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
