DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily operation of the hospital by completing skilled and semi-skilled work in several trades to maintain safe and functional facilities. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • General Repairs: Perform building maintenance, basic repairs, and needed renovations across hospital property
  • Electrical Tasks: Install circuits, lighting, outlets, and related electrical components
  • Plumbing Work: Install and maintain pipes, plumbing fixtures, and related equipment
  • Surface Finishing: Prep, prime, paint, and finish both interior and exterior surfaces
  • Carpentry Skills: Construct framing, hang drywall, install trim, and set doors and windows
  • Equipment Use: Operate and maintain tools and machinery in a safe and responsible manner

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will be subject to emergency call-ins.
  • Overtime and travel: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration): or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
