Job Description
A Chicago Loop law firm is seeking to hire a full-time Associate Attorney with 4+ years of litigation experience to join its growing practice. The chosen attorney will be charged with handling a variety of medical negligence and corporate litigation matters. The position may also involve representing clients in trade secret, intellectual property disputes, and personal injury matters as they arise. The ideal candidate should have a strong writing background, be able to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and have the ability to work independently. The position allows for a hybrid schedule (3 days in office and 2 days from home) with a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and manage an existing caseload;
Be prepared to handle cases from inception to trial;
First Chair and Second Chair medical negligence trials;
Attend, take, and defend depositions of 213(f)(1), (f)(2), and (f)(3) witnesses;
Communicate with clients at all stages of litigation;
Review, analyze, and draft legal documents, including, but not limited to, complaints, motions, responses, and replies;
Issue and answer written discovery;
Attend court appearances, mediations, and hearings; and
Communicate with a team of attorneys in the firm on an as needed basis to ensure ongoing professional development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
JD from an accredited law school;
Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois;
4+ years of experience at a litigation firm;
Trial Experience as a Second and/or First Chair attorney;
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
Superior verbal and written communication skills; and
Experience taking and defending depositions.
