Occupational Therapist School Setting in Hudson, NY

In this unique role, you’ll apply your skills to deliver individualized occupational therapy services designed specifically for children with multiple disabilities and complex developmental needs.

You’ll enjoy a flexible schedule, working directly with students and their families in their homes, helping them achieve greater independence and participation through personalized therapy sessions. One student requires three 30-minute sessions per week, supporting needs related to developmental delays and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Another receives a 45-minute session weekly, with global developmental delays, cerebral palsy secondary to seizures, and infantile spasms, requiring substantial support as she is nonverbal and non-ambulatory.

Qualifications:

• Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist
• Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in school or home-based settings
• Strong understanding of multiple and significant disabilities, including developmental delays, HIE, cerebral palsy, and seizure disorders
• Compassionate communication, creativity, and adaptability in therapy approaches
• Ability to plan, execute, and document individualized treatment sessions

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored OT services as specified: three 30-minute individual weekly sessions and one 45-minute session per week, in students’ homes
• Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and educational teams
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans focused on functional gains
• Maintain thorough, accurate documentation of progress and adapt interventions as needed
• Make recommendations for adaptive equipment or environmental modifications to support student participation
