As a contract Social Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting students’ well-being and fostering positive development throughout the academic year. This full-time assignment runs from August 25 to June 18, offering the chance to engage with a diverse group of elementary-aged students and collaborate with an energetic school community.
Key Qualifications:
- Current SSW approval through the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)
- Certified school social worker in Michigan
- Proven experience working as a social worker in school settings, preferably at the elementary level
- Strong ability to manage a caseload of 50-60 students with flexibility for a higher number if needed
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect support to students facing academic, social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
- Conduct assessments, develop intervention strategies, and facilitate crisis management when required
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure each student receives tailored support
- Advocate for students’ needs and refer them to appropriate community resources as necessary
- Maintain thorough records and prepare reports in compliance with school district and state requirements
