Serving the needs of Self-Contained Classes (SDC) for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten–1st Grade, this opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about individualized instruction and inclusive education.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California CTC Certification in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Special Education
- Experience or strong passion for working with elementary-age students in self-contained settings
- Knowledge of special education best practices, IEP implementation, and classroom management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Commitment to fostering a caring, supportive, and structured classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalized instruction to students in SDC TK or K–1 classroom
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths and needs
- Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies and manage classroom behaviors positively
- Maintain accurate student records and provide meaningful progress updates
- Collaborate with school staff, specialists, and families to ensure coordinated, comprehensive support
- Cultivate a positive classroom culture that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth
