Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification or credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or a closely related field
- Solid understanding of a variety of communication modalities, including ASL, auditory-verbal, and cued speech
- Previous experience supporting students with hearing loss in K-12 settings strongly preferred
- Familiarity with creating and implementing IEPs for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, families, and support staff
- Skilled in adapting instruction and materials to fit individual student needs
- Sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and the unique needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional and consultative services to students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop tailored lesson plans and modify curriculum to ensure access to grade-level content
- Advocate for appropriate classroom accommodations and assistive technology
- Collaborate with IEP teams, including educators, therapists, and families
- Deliver professional development and support for staff regarding strategies and best practices
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches to facilitate growth
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture for all learners
