Registered Nurse – PACU

Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide Phase 1 post-anesthesia recovery care for patients following surgical procedures requiring anesthesia, received directly from the OR, EP Lab, Endo, IR, and MRI \n
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ICU-level care within the PACU setting, including those with arterial lines and ICP monitoring; may recover surgical patients in an ICU setting \n
- Recover and discharge Phase II patients during night and weekend shifts, including overnight tower and ICU patients \n
- Utilize specialized equipment including cardiac monitors, dopplers for vascular checks, fetal heart monitors, EKOS, SCD pumps, and wound vacs \n
- Float to surgical short stay or other areas of overflow as needed \n
- Participate in on-call rotation approximately once every four weeks and be available for storm, hurricane, or disaster team assignments as required \n

- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated Phase 1 and Phase 2 PACU experience \n
- Prior ICU experience required (ability to manage ICU-level patients within the PACU environment) \n
- Active ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications \n
- Prior travel nursing experience required \n
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license \n
- Proficiency with Pyxis, EPIC, and PerfectServe documentation and communication systems \n

- Charge nurse experience and background in conscious sedation, telemetry, or ventilator management \n
- Experience with ICP monitoring and fetal heart monitoring \n
- ICU background prior to transitioning to PACU \n
- Pediatric surgical experience (T&A, hernias, cleft lip/palate, ear procedures) \n
- \n
- Work in a varied and clinically challenging PACU environment caring for a broad range of surgical specialties including vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, bariatrics, plastics, ENT, gynecology, urology, and pediatrics \n
