Amergis Healthcare Staffing, Inc.-Allied is seeking a travel Surgical Technician for a travel job in Syracuse, New York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
\nPlaces equipment and supplies in operating room and arranges instruments, according to instructions
\n Assists team members to place and position patient on table
\n Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves
\n Aids team to don gowns and gloves
\n Maintains supply of fluids, such as plasma, saline, blood, and glucose for use during operation
\n Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by the surgeon during operation.
\n Puts dressings on patient following surgery
\n Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation
\n Washes and sterilizes equipment, using germicides and sterilizers
\n Cleans operating room
\n Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
\n Minimum Requirements:
Surgical Technologist certification as applicable per state and/or client requirement
\n One year experience as a Surgical Technician preferred (Tissue Processing Technologist – only)
\n Degree in biology related field which includes a degree / certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred
\n Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
\n Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
\n Current CPR if applicable
\n TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
\n Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
\n Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
\n Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
\n Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
\n Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
\n Computer proficiency required
\n Must be at least 18 years of age
