Job Description

The Independently Licensed Psychologist provides professional psychological assessment, evaluation, counseling, and behavioral health services to patients receiving services through the agency. The Psychologist evaluates patients' psychological and behavioral needs, develops appropriate treatment recommendations, and collaborates with the patient's healthcare team to support overall health, safety, and well-being.

The Psychologist is expected to practice independently within the scope of their professional license and in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, professional standards, and agency policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations as clinically appropriate.
  • Assess patients' cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial functioning.
  • Identify psychological, behavioral, and emotional concerns that may affect the patient's health and quality of life.
  • Provide individual and/or family counseling and psychotherapy within the scope of licensure and professional practice.
  • Develop individualized treatment recommendations and interventions based on patient needs.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment recommendations when clinically appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, caregivers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in care planning and case conferences as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation regarding behavioral health and psychological concerns.
  • Assist patients and families with coping strategies related to illness, disability, life changes, grief, stress, and other challenges.
  • Make appropriate referrals to psychiatric, medical, behavioral health, community, or other support services when indicated.
  • Identify and appropriately address safety concerns, including risk of harm to self or others, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other situations requiring intervention.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
  • Complete psychological evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required documentation.
  • Communicate significant changes in the patient's condition to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to applicable ethical standards.
  • Provide services in accordance with the individual's treatment plan and authorized scope of services.
  • Perform other clinically appropriate duties related to psychological services as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted psychologist license in the state where services are provided.
  • Must be independently licensed and authorized to practice without clinical supervision, as permitted by applicable state law.
  • Current professional liability/malpractice insurance.
  • Experience providing psychological services in home healthcare, community-based care, behavioral health, healthcare, or a related setting preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise appropriate professional judgment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to patients' homes when required.

Independent Contractor Expectations

The Independently Licensed Psychologist is responsible for maintaining all professional licenses, certifications, credentials, and insurance required to provide services. The contractor is responsible for providing services in a professional, ethical, timely, and clinically appropriate manner.

The Psychologist shall maintain documentation consistent with agency requirements, applicable laws and regulations, payer requirements, and professional standards.

Confidentiality

The Psychologist must maintain strict confidentiality concerning all patient, family, employee, and agency information and comply with HIPAA, applicable privacy laws, and professional ethical requirements.

Physical and Work Environment

Services may be provided in patients' homes, agency facilities, or other approved community-based settings. The position requires the ability to travel to assigned locations and communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
