THE POSITION
As a Corrections Employment and Vocational Coordinator with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you play a powerful role in preparing inmates for productive futures after incarceration. This position gives you the opportunity to ignite growth through hands-on training, real work experiences, and personal skill development. Your leadership helps drive meaningful momentum for inmates while strengthening daily operations across the institution. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position manages employment programs and supports inmates as they build job skills that prepare them for future success. It contributes to positive growth for both individuals and the institution. As a Corrections Employment and Vocational Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Leadership: Supervise and participate in inmate employment operations and develop annual goals for the Inmate Employment Office (IEO)
  • Training Placement: Coordinate placement into work assignments and vocational programs based on individual backgrounds
  • Payroll Oversight: Review and administer inmate payroll and compensation processes in line with regulations
  • Inmate Counseling: Provide guidance to help inmates understand job expectations and choose training opportunities
  • Progress Documentation: Track and report inmate work assignments and training progress for treatment planning
  • Staff Communication: Maintain contact with supervisors and assist staff in resolving work assignment changes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Corrections Employment and Vocational Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of para-professional experience in obtaining and evaluating vocational or employment information; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
