Experienced Paralegal — Property Tax & Oil and Gas Law
Location: Rockwall, TX (In-Person) Type: Full-time
About Us
Company is a small, close-knit law firm specializing in property tax disputes and oil and gas law. We value integrity, precision, and a client-service-based attitude in everything we do.
The Role
We're looking for a Lead Paralegal to take primary ownership of our most complex property tax and oil and gas litigation matters — from case preparation through trial. This is a hands-on role for an experienced litigation paralegal who wants to run their own caseload with a high degree of autonomy. This is an in-person position based in our Rockwall office.
Responsibilities
● Manage a full caseload of property tax appeals and oil and gas litigation matters from start to finish
● Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and appeals with county appraisal districts and courts
● Prepare and respond to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission
● Organize and maintain case files, deadlines, and discovery materials
● Prepare exhibits, trial binders, correspondence, and settlement documents
● Coordinate depositions, hearings, and trial logistics
● Serve as a key point of contact with clients, county officials, and opposing counsel
● Assist attorneys with trial and hearing preparation, including witness and exhibit prep
● Track and manage statutory and filing deadlines across multiple jurisdictions
● Conduct basic title, deed, and mineral/royalty document review as needed
Qualifications
● 5+ years of paralegal experience with a strong civil litigation background (property tax or oil and gas experience strongly preferred)
● Experience managing discovery and trial preparation
● Proven ability to independently manage a high-volume, deadline-driven caseload
● Excellent organizational skills and sound judgment
● Strong client service orientation and professionalism
● Proficient in Microsoft Office; e-filing systems experience a plus
● Paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor's degree preferred
● Must be able to work in-person at our Rockwall, TX office
What We Offer
● Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
● Small-firm environment with direct mentorship and growth potential
● Leadership role in a specialized, in-demand practice area
