Job Description
Compensation & Benefits / Total Rewards Consultant
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Type: Contract 3+ months
Schedule: 4–5 days onsite, some flexibility
Start: ASAP
What They Need
They need a senior Total Rewards/Compensation professional to come in and build out their compensation structure from the ground up.
This person will help with:
- Building pay grades and salary ranges
- Defining job levels/roles
- Using market data to price positions
- Determining appropriate compensation by location
- Creating strategic compensation segments
- Reviewing data and identifying patterns/gaps
- Using ERI and Mercer
- Helping improve their overall Total Rewards strategy
- Supporting their benefits transformation, including a new broker and potential self-funded plan
Must Have
- Strong Total Rewards + Compensation background
- Experience building compensation programs, not just administering them
- ADP Workforce Now
- Market pricing/benchmarking experience
- ERI, Mercer, or similar compensation data
- Strong analytical/data skills
- Benefits experience
- Comfortable using technology/AI to analyze data and identify trends

They want someone who can come in and build the program, think creatively, work through ambiguity, and figure out what the data is telling them.
The person needs to be flexible, strategic, analytical, and comfortable figuring things out independently.
Potential Long-Term Opportunity
They are starting this person as a contractor, but there is potential to transition into a full-time Compensation/Benefits or Total Rewards role as the company continues transforming its benefits program
