Job Description

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and enforcing site-specific safety programs for data center cleaning and other mission-critical facility projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and company standards while protecting employees, sensitive equipment, and facility uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily safety inspections and correct unsafe conditions or work practices.
  • Enforce site safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses, PPE requirements, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Monitor electrical exposure, Arc Flash awareness, Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, ladder use, and work near energized equipment.
  • Manage slip and trip hazards associated with raised floors, cables, equipment, and wet-floor procedures.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling, SDS documentation, and use of cleaning products approved for sensitive electronics.
  • Enforce site access, badging, escort, security, and electrostatic discharge requirements.
  • Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and project-specific training.
  • Verify employee and subcontractor training credentials.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, complete reports, and implement corrective actions.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when conditions threaten personnel, equipment, or critical operations.
  • Coordinate with project leadership, subcontractors, and client safety representatives.
  • Maintain required safety records, inspection reports, training documentation, and performance metrics.
  •  Electrical exposure: working near energized equipment, PDUs, cable trays; arc flash awareness even if not touching equipment directly
    Slip/trip hazards: raised floors, cable management, wet floor procedures near sensitive electronics
    Chemical handling: cleaning agents compatible with electronics (no standard ammonia-based products near servers), SDS management
    Access/credentialing compliance: most DCs require badge-in, escort protocols, and strict PPE/anti-static procedures
    Static control (ESD): grounding straps, ESD flooring compliance near server rooms
    Working at height: occasionally for HVAC/ceiling cleaning in mechanical spaces

Required Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • OSHA 500 Trainer Course certification.
  • OSHA 510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry certification.
  • Two to four years of site safety experience in construction, electrical, industrial, or critical-facility environments.
  • Working knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
  • Experience managing safety in active, high-risk environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience.
  • CHST, CSP, or an equivalent professional safety credential.
  • Experience with energized electrical work, Arc Flash programs, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
  • Knowledge of ESD controls and cleaning procedures for sensitive electronic environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in active work areas.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and navigate raised-floor environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work near energized electrical and mechanical equipment while wearing required PPE.
