Job Description

Secure Behavioral & Psychiatric Health Transport Officer Full-Time | South Florida Region | In-Person

Caring and Secure Transport is a Florida-based behavioral health transport company seeking Transport Officers to provide safe, dignified, and clinically informed transport for individuals experiencing behavioral and psychiatric health crises. This is not a standard transport role. Our Transport Officers function as front-line healthcare providers calm, skilled, and trained to support patients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Base pay: $17.00/hr
  • Standard schedule is 48 hours per week across 2 set days
  • The first 40 hours are paid at base rate; the remaining 8 hours are guaranteed overtime at time-and-a-half ($25.50/hr)
  • That guaranteed overtime structure brings annualized compensation to approximately $46,000/year
  • Additional overtime beyond the 48-hour schedule is available and compensated separately
  • Pay is shift-based -- you are compensated for your full time on shift, not per transport

What You'll Do

  • Conduct secure behavioral and psychiatric transports safely, professionally, and on schedule
  • Provide direct support to patients in crisis, using appropriate de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
  • Coordinate transport schedules and any changes in real time with dispatch and management
  • Complete all intake paperwork, client logbook entries, and transport documentation accurately
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and readiness before and after every transport
  • Monitor traffic and route conditions to ensure timely arrivals
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, receiving facilities, and internal staff
  • Report any potentially dangerous or escalating situations immediately per company protocol
  • Follow all applicable state and federal regulations, including HIPAA

What We're Looking For

This role is best suited for someone with a background in emergency medical services, behavioral health, or a related clinical field who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team including overnight and 24-hour shifts.

Preferred credentials and experience:

  • EMT, Paramedic, Nurse, Mental Health Tech., Behavior Health Tech., Peer Support Specialist, CNA, Counselor, or Therapist.
  • CPI Blue Card or equivalent crisis prevention/intervention training
  • 2 years working with behaviorally complex youth and/or adults
  • BLS and CPR certification
  • Experience in healthcare, emergency services, or law enforcement

Requirements

  • Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 background check and ACHA background screening
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and meet physical demands of the role, including potential physical intervention situations
  • Passenger assistance and safety sensitivity awareness
  • Wheelchair procurement/transport capability
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving ability, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Availability for set weekly shifts including potential overnight and 24-hour assignments

You're a Strong Fit If You

  • Are genuinely drawn to working in the behavioral health space
  • Stay composed under pressure and adapt quickly in dynamic situations
  • Can work confidently solo or as part of a team
  • Transport long distances and/or over night.
  • Take documentation and compliance seriously
  • Understand that every transport represents a person in crisis who deserves professionalism and care
