Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in compliance with licensure standards. The therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to contribute to patient goal development, care planning, and identifying barriers to discharge. The therapist provides patient-centered care and educates patients and families on treatment procedures, assistive devices, home programs, and other relevant health topics.
Responsibilities- Select and perform evaluation and treatment methods tailored to the patient's age, diagnosis, and physician orders while documenting per chart and review standards.
- Orient patients, families, and other relevant parties regarding the purpose and procedures of therapy evaluations and treatments.
- Provide appropriate patient education and family teaching related to their needs.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with interdisciplinary disciplines using proper scheduling procedures.
- Monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating and developing new programs as necessary.
- Conduct pain assessments and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedures.
- Obtain and document all required and pertinent patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plans of care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to develop and accurately document discharge plans.
- Identify significant changes in the patient's condition and take appropriate actions as evidenced through reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
- Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants in accordance with state licensure and care delivery standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the department's needs.
- 2+ years of experience in occupational therapy, inpatient and/or outpatient settings required.
- Occupational Therapist certification from the North Dakota State Board of Occupational Therapy.
- National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) prior to start date.
- Current driver's license with an acceptable driving record prior to start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to start date.
