Job type – 6 months contract with possible extension
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support manufacturing operations at our Grand Rapids, Michigan facility. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing and plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing and plant equipment.
- Diagnose equipment failures and identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, electronic, optical, and vacuum-related issues.
- Replace defective components and perform basic troubleshooting using standard electronic test equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, specifications, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and equipment service logs.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical components, equipment, and systems.
- Provide technical support to production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, and product development activities.
- Collect, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data using established procedures and formulas.
- Perform detailed mathematical calculations related to technical and maintenance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance processes.
- At higher levels of responsibility, recommend and implement process or equipment improvements to optimize workflow.
- Estimate labor and equipment requirements and prepare requisitions when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Hands-on experience with industrial/manufacturing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safety.
- Ability to document maintenance activities accurately.
- Comfortable working 3rd shift after completion of training.
