Job Title: Sr Advanced Mechanical Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85034
Employment Type: W2 Contract
Pay Rate: $72.00 - $75.00/hour | Paid Weekly
Work Model: Onsite/Hybrid schedule not specified

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an experienced Sr Advanced Mechanical Engineer to support our client's advanced aerospace engineering organization in Phoenix, Arizona.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished mechanical engineer with expertise in gas turbine engines, finite element analysis (FEA), structural and thermal analysis, aerospace manufacturing, and component design. The engineer will support production, supplier transition/repositioning, value engineering, quality, supplier substantiation, and design change initiatives involving FanC components and systems.

In this role, you will conduct complex engineering evaluations across multiple engine models and component families while collaborating with local and global engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, customers, and Chief Engineers. This position offers the opportunity to solve challenging aerospace engineering problems while helping improve product performance, manufacturability, cost, and cycle time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering evaluations of FanC components and systems supporting production, supplier transitions/repositioning, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Perform functional evaluations by identifying engine boundary conditions, design requirements, and component performance requirements.
  • Conduct 3D finite element thermal, stress, and modal analyses.
  • Perform engineering evaluations involving strength, vibration, stress rupture, deflection, fatigue, and component life.
  • Perform complex engineering analyses and hand calculations for gas turbine engine FanC components.
  • Support quality activities involving FAIRs, RMRAs, QNs, inspection methodologies, and drawing interpretation.
  • Review and support supplier substantiation documentation, including ESA, STICS, STR, FTR, and SCS.
  • Support engineering design changes involving ECNs, EMAs, deviation waivers, and related change-control processes.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Provide technical and problem-solving guidance based on gas turbine engine and APU design and manufacturing experience.
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and coordinate engineering analysis activities.
  • Review engineering analysis results and ensure technical outputs meet design and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with local and global analysis teams in an Agile engineering environment.
  • Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations effectively with manufacturing teams, suppliers, customers, and Chief Engineers.
  • Support process transformation and continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce engineering and manufacturing costs and cycle times.
  • Evaluate manufacturing considerations involving casting, machining, welding, heat treatment, and other aerospace production processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience in the field or a closely related area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering analysis and design principles.
  • Experience performing or supporting finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong analytical, technical, and engineering problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing engineering assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, manufacturing organizations, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • System-level understanding of gas turbine engines.
  • Engines and/or Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) design and manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, including casting, machining, welding, and heat treatment.
  • Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills, including GD&T.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality processes, including inspection methodologies, FAIR and RMRA reviews.
  • Knowledge of supplier substantiation processes involving ESA, STICS, STR, FTR, and SCS documentation.
  • Experience supporting design change processes, including ECNs and EMAs.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of fatigue and finite element analysis.
  • Ability to perform complex engineering analyses and hand calculations involving gas turbine engine FanC components.
  • Experience with ANSYS or equivalent FEA software.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling.
  • Experience with GOM analysis and structured-light scanning.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and adjust to changing assignment requests.
  • Experience collaborating within Agile and globally distributed engineering teams.
