Accounting Manager - Client Advisory Services (CAS)

What you'll do
Manage a portfolio of outsourced financial statement engagements, serving as the primary advisor and key point of accountability for client relationships.
Review advanced bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliations, book-to-tax adjustments, and special-purpose reporting frameworks (GAAP and income tax basis).
Oversee multi-state compliance filings (Form 1099s, payroll, sales tax, business property statements) and provide tax agency representation when required.
Build weekly team schedules and optimize workflow distribution to keep engagements on time and within budget.
Lead team meetings, deliver in-house technical training, provide real-time performance coaching, and mentor junior accounting staff.
Drive CAS practice growth through networking, prospective client meetings, and engagement economics management (WIP and billing review).
Partner with the Tax department to provide cross-functional technical research and support on complex client accounts.
What you need
Progressive public accounting experience with a clear track record in Client Advisory Services (CAS) or outsourced accounting management.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Technical proficiency with accounting software and workflow tools (e.g., QuickBooks, CCH Axcess Tax, CCH Engagement, CCH Workstream, CFS, T-value).
Willingness to work seasonal peak hours (55+ hrs/week during tax deadlines).
Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and collaborate across teams.
Nice to have
Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential (equivalent experience considered).
Established professional network in Southern California or key industry verticals.
Experience creating or leading internal training programs within a public accounting firm.
