About the Opportunity

• A well-established, locally respected public accounting firm in the Altoona, WI area is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant / Tax Professional to join its team.

• This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients and wants exposure to a diverse mix of individual and business tax matters rather than being limited to one area of taxation.

• The ideal candidate will have several years of tax preparation experience in a public accounting environment and be comfortable working with individual, business, partnership, trust, and nonprofit returns.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, including partnership, trust, nonprofit, and other entity returns.

• Work directly with clients to gather financial information, clarify tax matters, and answer questions.

• Research and interpret federal and state tax laws and apply them appropriately to client situations.

• Assist clients with tax planning and tax-saving strategies.

• Review financial records to identify potential tax issues and opportunities.

• Maintain accurate client files and ensure tax returns are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

• Manage multiple client engagements and priorities, particularly during tax season.

• Collaborate with other accounting professionals to provide responsive, high-quality client service.

• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.

What We're Looking For

• Multiple years of professional tax preparation experience in public accounting.

• Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.

• Experience preparing a combination of individual and business tax returns.

• Experience with partnership, S-Corp, trust, nonprofit, or other entity returns is highly valued.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong organization and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines during busy tax seasons.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

• Experience with Drake Tax Software is a plus, but not required.

• CPA or EA credentials are a plus, as is an interest in pursuing professional certification.
