We are hiring a dependable, safety-conscious Machine Operator Helper to support belt-grinding and metal-finishing operations. In this hands-on role, you will assist an experienced operator with machine preparation, material handling, basic grinding, quality inspections, and general production tasks.

Previous grinding or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to consider motivated candidates who are comfortable working with machinery, can follow instructions, and are eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing belt-grinding machines for production
• Help change grinding belts, adjust belt tracking, and prepare fixtures
• Load and unload parts from machines and worktables
• Perform basic grinding, deburring, smoothing, and surface-finishing tasks
• Monitor production for defects, overheating, or improper belt performance
• Help adjust pressure, angle, or feed rate under the operator's direction
• Move raw materials, components, and finished parts throughout the production process
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and rulers to check dimensions and finish quality
• Sort, label, and package completed parts according to job specifications
• Record production quantities, part counts, and material usage
• Complete required quality-control and inspection forms
• Assist with routine maintenance, including belt changes, lubrication checks, and cleanup
• Keep the work area free of metal shavings, grinding dust, and other debris
• Report equipment problems, worn belts, defects, and safety hazards promptly
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous grinding, finishing, machine-operation, or manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
• Basic familiarity with hand tools and measuring instruments preferred
• Ability to follow instructions and learn belt-grinding techniques
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Good manual dexterity
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
• Commitment to following workplace safety and drug- and alcohol-free policies

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery, sparks, grinding dust, vibration, and noise
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
