Registered Nurse – Med Surg | Redding, CA | 13 Weeks Contract

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical-Surgical patients throughout their hospital stay
• Perform thorough assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, neurological status, and overall patient condition
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to physicians and the healthcare team
• Monitor IV lines, drains, wounds, catheters, and other clinical devices
• Provide wound care, post-operative care, and other treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
• Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, physical therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Follow infection prevention, medication safety, HIPAA, patient safety, and hospital protocols
• Advocate for patients while providing compassionate, evidence-based nursing care

Qualifications

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 2 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification preferred or required by facility
• Strong knowledge of Medical-Surgical nursing, patient assessment, medication administration, and clinical documentation
• Experience caring for adult medical and post-surgical patients
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
• Excellent communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple patient needs in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively during night shifts
• Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care
