Position Summary

Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehab are seeking a PRN OT to join the team! The PRN Occupational Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered occupational therapy services to residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role focuses on improving functional independence, safety, and quality of life through skilled interventions, assessments, and collaborative care within an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform comprehensive OT evaluations in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans to address deficits in ADLs, functional mobility, strength, endurance, cognition, and psychosocial needs.

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, functional training, adaptive equipment instruction, and compensatory strategies.

  • Document evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries in a timely and compliant manner.

  • Maintain accurate treatment minutes and adhere to billing, coding, and regulatory guidelines.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Participate in care conferences, team meetings, and communication with nursing, PT, SLP, and other disciplines as needed.

  • Educate residents, families, and facility staff on OT goals, safety techniques, and functional strategies.

  • Contribute to discharge planning and recommendations for durable medical equipment (DME).

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Follow all federal, state, and facility regulations including Medicare, HIPAA, and SNF guidelines.

  • Maintain licensure, continuing education, and professional competency requirements.

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice established by AOTA and state licensing boards.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) license in the state of practice.

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Master’s or Doctorate).

  • Prior experience in SNF, geriatrics, or rehabilitation setting preferred.

  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work flexible PRN hours, including weekends or holidays as facility needs arise.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and assist with resident transfers.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods.

  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to safely treat and communicate with residents.
