Job Title: Healthcare Privacy Analyst
Position: Full Time Direct Hire
Location: Chicago, IL (hybrid) This position is primarily remote. Candidates must reside near Chicago, IL and be available for occasional onsite walkthroughs at assigned facilities, approximately 5 visits per month.
Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a Healthcare Privacy Analyst. This is a full-time hire position. This role is primarily remote with monthly onsite presence as needed.
The Privacy Analyst will support the organization’s Privacy Program mission by responding to patient/employee inquiries, conducting department reviews and audits, assisting with privacy and information security investigations, and delivering training and guidance materials for workforce education, reporting to the Privacy Program Director, Deputy Privacy Officer.
What You Bring to the Role (Experience and Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in project management, HIPAA, information systems, or compliance.
- Strong patient-facing/interpersonal skills — role requires regularly communicating with patients, department staff, and physicians.
- Demonstrated familiarity with HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations, with a focus on identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Academic medical center and/or healthcare consulting experience.
- Experience in data mining, analysis, and report development.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including scoping, planning, facilitating team meetings, and completing projects.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Internet Explorer.
- Privacy/Compliance certification (CHC and/or CHPC) preferred, or ability to obtain within one year.
Preferred / Nice to Have Experience
- Experience conducting audits within the Epic EHR environment is preferred.
- Experience using Epic Audit Trail Viewer to review user activity at the click level during privacy investigations or incident response, including interviewing employees when necessary.
- Familiarity with Imprivata AIP (Access Intelligence and Privacy) monitoring tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; advanced proficiency is not required.
What You'll Do. (Skills Used in this Position)
- Serve as first line support for questions, concerns, incidents, and complaints via in-person, phone, hotline, email, and mail.
- Consult and coordinate with other departments or forward inquiries to appropriate staff or management as needed.
- Enter activity data into logs and maintain documentation on the department shared drive.
- Conduct, document, and follow up on department Privacy reviews/audits, meeting established service level standards.
- Identify areas of risk and work with departments on corrective action plans.
- Assist in developing and presenting training materials, presentations, and FAQs.
- Maintain the Privacy Program's knowledge repository and coordinate materials for the Privacy Program website.
- Prepare reports and reporting metrics related to incidents, training, and other program areas.
- Collaborate with the Office of Clinical Research and IRB on privacy-related research compliance for human subjects and clinical trials.
- Stay current on HIPAA judicial trends, OCR/HHS resources, and applicable federal, state, and international privacy and security laws.
Compensation and Employment
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
