Histology Supervisor - Multispecialty Group - Now Hiring

We are seeking a qualified individual to lead all Histology and Anatomic Pathology laboratory operations in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing staff, workflow, quality, compliance, LIS administration, and laboratory growth initiatives while spending approximately 50% of time performing bench histology duties.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Histology and AP laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, competency assessments, evaluations, and timekeeping.
• Perform bench histology functions including grossing, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping.
• Manage specimen accessioning, case tracking, workflow, and turnaround times.
• Coordinate daily operations with pathologists to ensure timely case sign-out and reporting.
• Administer Orchard Enterprise Pathology (OEP) LIS and maintain AP reporting templates.
• Ensure compliance with NYS CLEP, CLIA, ECLRS, and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee reference lab send-outs, AP interfaces, and EMR integrations.
• Lead validation studies, new test implementation, quality initiatives, and future IHC expansion.
• Maintain SOPs, competency programs, equipment maintenance schedules, and vendor relationships.
• Support pathology quality meetings, proficiency testing, safety monitoring, and annual permit renewals.

Requirements

• HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification required.
• Active NYS Histotechnologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.
• 5 years of Histology or Anatomic Pathology experience.
• Prior laboratory leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with AP laboratory workflows, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
• AP LIS experience (Orchard, NovaPath, Sunquest AP, Beaker AP, etc.) preferred.
• IHC experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field preferred.
