Job Description

Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a strong background in commercial electrical equipment and, ideally, complex switchboards and power distribution systems.

This is an opportunity for an estimator who enjoys working with technical specifications, developing accurate project pricing, communicating with customers and vendors, and managing complex electrical quotes from initial review through completion.

The ideal candidate has hands-on industry knowledge and the ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop competitive and accurate commercial proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate and timely commercial quotes for electrical equipment, with an emphasis on complex switchboards and power distribution equipment.
  • Review project plans, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to determine scope, materials, labor considerations, and pricing.
  • Prepare estimates and proposals for high-value and technically complex projects.
  • Analyze non-standard or highly customized project requirements and determine appropriate pricing and solutions.
  • Communicate directly with customers, manufacturers' representatives, vendors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Obtain and evaluate vendor pricing, quotes, lead times, and technical information required to complete proposals.
  • Review and interpret technical specifications and identify potential scope, compliance, or pricing concerns.
  • Compile supporting technical documentation for complex proposals.
  • Develop estimating guides, reference materials, and pricing tools to improve efficiency and consistency across the estimating team.
  • Work with subject matter experts to resolve technical questions and escalate complex requirements when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and ensure proposals are completed within established deadlines.
  • Stay current with electrical equipment, manufacturing processes, industry standards, and product applications.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, switchboard estimating, electrical equipment, or a closely related industry.
  • Experience estimating complex commercial switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, or other electrical distribution equipment is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of basic electrical and manufacturing concepts and their application to complex projects.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to pricing accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, manufacturers' representatives, and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Electrical estimating
  • Commercial switchboards
  • Switchgear and power distribution equipment
  • Electrical equipment manufacturing
  • Custom electrical equipment
  • Electrical engineering or technical sales support
  • Reviewing electrical specifications and project drawings
  • Commercial or industrial electrical construction

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented electrical professional who understands the estimating process and is comfortable working with complex equipment and specifications. This position is best suited for someone with technical electrical experience who wants to build accurate, competitive commercial estimates—not a general sales professional.

Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.
