Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret in educational settings
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in schools
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, faculty, and staff
- Willingness to work full-time, in-person (approximately 36.25 hours per week)
- Commitment to confidentiality and supporting an inclusive learning environment
- Certification or licensure as required by state or district regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between staff and students using ASL
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate various ages and educational contexts
- Facilitate communication during meetings, extracurricular activities, and school events as needed
- Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to support students’ academic and social success
- Assist in the preparation of materials to enhance accessibility and learning
- Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards of service
