Embark on a meaningful contract opportunity supporting hearing-impaired students within a dynamic educational environment near Kenner, LA. This full-time role (37.5 hours/week, M-F according to the school calendar) empowers you to truly impact student success across multiple campuses for the 2026-2027 school year.

You'll work closely with the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism in the Student Support Unit, delivering IEP-directed educational services and access for hearing-impaired students. Your expertise will be vital as you foster inclusive learning, support regular classroom teachers, and help ensure school personnel understand how to positively engage hearing-impaired learners.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and Louisiana teacher certification in Hearing Impaired required
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching hearing impaired students in a regular education setting
  • Prior VOCO experience is necessary
  • Basic proficiency in sign language, along with a collaborative and culturally responsive approach
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening devices
  • Adept at managing IEP documentation, progress notes, and education records with strong computer skills
  • Licensure in your state of residence
  • Commitment to up-to-date credentialing, including fingerprints and district-required drug screening

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to hearing-impaired students as outlined in IEPs
  • Facilitate the integration and inclusion of students with hearing impairments in regular classrooms
  • Consult with teachers and staff, participate in the preparation of educational materials and assessments
  • Conduct in-service training and advocate for a welcoming environment for all
  • Maintain regular communication with staff and families
  • Manage equipment and resource needs for student accessibility
