We are looking for a Patient Access Specialist to support front-end patient access operations for a healthcare team in Chicago, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position focuses on creating a smooth patient experience by coordinating registration, scheduling, and insurance-related intake activities with accuracy and professionalism. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting patients directly, managing administrative details, and maintaining complete information within the EHR system.
Responsibilities:
• Welcome patients and guide them through registration and intake steps while ensuring all required information is collected accurately.
• Coordinate appointment bookings, updates, and cancellations to help maintain an organized and efficient patient schedule.
• Review demographic and coverage details with patients and enter complete, accurate records into the EHR system.
• Verify medical insurance information prior to visits and communicate coverage-related issues or missing details when needed.
• Provide clear assistance to patients regarding forms, appointment procedures, and general access-related questions.
• Maintain patient records by updating registrations, confirming documentation, and resolving routine discrepancies in account information.
• Support daily patient registrar activities to help ensure timely check-in, check-out, and overall access workflow completion.• Experience in patient registration, patient access, or a similar healthcare administrative role.
• Ability to assist patients professionally with scheduling, intake, and registration-related questions.
• Working knowledge of appointment scheduling processes in a clinical or medical office environment.
• Experience verifying medical insurance and confirming eligibility or coverage information.
• Proficiency using an EHR system to document, review, and update patient information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling confidential patient and insurance records.
• Effective communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
