Pay: $19-$25/hr+ DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Start: ASAP
Employment Type: Contract through 12/11, with potential Contract-to-Hire opportunity for strong performers
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a busy primary care clinic in Midland, MI. This role will provide a combination of front- and back-office support, working closely with providers and patients to ensure efficient, high-quality care.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of medical office experience, be comfortable working with adult patients, and have strong phlebotomy/blood draw experience. Experience with Epic is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Room patients and obtain and document vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and other measurements
- Obtain and document accurate patient histories, medications, treatments, and test results in the EMR
- Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, vaccinations, and point-of-care testing
- Perform independent blood draws and phlebotomy procedures
- Support both front- and back-office clinic operations
- Complete patient registration and collect insurance information
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
- Open the clinic and prepare the daily schedule
- Review in-baskets and prepare for upcoming patient visits
- Assist with patient callbacks, including routine lab results and follow-up appointments
- Coordinate referrals and assist with follow-up care
- Maintain medical supplies and equipment, including inventory and ordering as needed
- Clean, stock, and sterilize instruments and clinical equipment as required
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic EMR
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, federal and state regulations, and organizational policies
- Provide professional, compassionate patient service and contribute to a team-based approach to healthcare delivery
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of Medical Assistant or medical office experience
- Previous experience supporting both front- and back-office functions preferred
- Strong phlebotomy experience required
- Must be comfortable performing independent blood draws
- Comfortable working with a primarily adult patient population
- Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment
- MA certification/diploma preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of certification or diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in primary care or family practice
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Experience with vaccinations and point-of-care testing
- Experience assisting with referrals and patient follow-up
Clinic & Patient Volume:
- Primary care setting serving patients ages 2+, with the majority of patients being adults
- Approximately 5-15 patients per day
- Combination of administrative, front-office, and clinical responsibilities
- Inbound and outbound calls are primarily handled by the PSR team, with follow-up items routed through the MA's in-basket as needed
Schedule
- Monday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
