Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Description
As a Lab Technician, you will assist in applications development by preparing samples, performing analytical tests, recording data and observations, and preparing summaries of experiments. You will perform die bonding applications manually and automatedly, troubleshoot basic process issues, and escalate appropriately. Additionally, you will perform parameter optimization and failure analysis, handle microscopic components, and use microscopes, tweezers, and vacuum tools. You will be responsible for process documentation, basic troubleshooting, and maintaining repeatability and yield.
Day to Day: This will mostly focus on SEM, Keyance, sample prep and data analysis relevant for that. Someone with previous SEM experience, or someone detail oriented would be good in this position. The SEM is a very expensive piece of equipment, and we need someone who is thorough/careful for this role.
Job Description:
- Test sample preparation of metals
- Inventory and label in process and finished samples for data and sample traceability throughout testing lifecycle.
- Planarize/sand/polish samples.
- Perform cross-sections for measurement and evaluation.
- Prepare outside vendor sample test plan template for engineering supervisor review.
- Organize and track samples sent out for imaging (CSAM, SEM, ect)
- Test sample testing and measurement
- Communicate test results, observations, images, and test data to Engineering supervisors.
- Perform testing
- Keyence imaging
- Optical microscope imaging
- Thermal profile testing (outgas/reflow testing)
- Electrical resistance measurement
- Thermal shock
- Push out strength
- Test dimension measurements
- Support Applications Engineers in test sample compaction process as needed.
- Trained as a backup for compaction process.
- Prepare test boards as needed (clean, cut to size, mount stencils, mount board for processing).
- Data entry of process conditions into databases
- Create presentations of findings to present to the lead scientists and rest of team
- Assist with client scheduling
Qualification:
- B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field
- 1+ years of industry experience in a related field
- Materials testing or Chemistry background
- Experience working with metals, QC background, lab experience, basic computer skills (MS excel, word, etc).
- Hands-on, good time management skills, attention to detail, organized, collaborative, flexible, self-motivated person.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
