Job Title: Segmentation TechnicianJob Description

The Segmentation Technician serves as a highly proficient, quality-focused producer of pre-operative surgical plans for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures. This role centers on accurate CT scan review, anatomical segmentation, and the creation of detailed 3D bone models and pre-operative plans using specialized and proprietary software. The technician contributes directly to team and department production targets while maintaining rigorous documentation and adherence to standardized work instructions.

Responsibilities
  • Create and manage surgical cases using a proprietary case management system.
  • Review CT scans to ensure they conform to established surgical protocols.
  • Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate precise 3D anatomical bone models for use in robotic surgery.
  • Develop pre-operative surgical plans based on digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
  • Review CT segmentations and surgical plans for accuracy, including anatomical landmark selection, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
  • Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and organized manner.
  • Document all activities thoroughly according to prescribed methods and procedures.
  • Follow detailed work instructions exactly to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
  • Maintain a strong focus on individual production performance to help meet team and department production targets.
  • Collaborate with a close-knit team to support continuous improvement in planning quality and workflow efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred, ideally in a STEM-related field.
  • At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in fast-paced environments or computer-oriented roles.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with design software and general digital tools.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use specialized medical imaging and segmentation software.
  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and accuracy in reviewing CT scans and anatomical models.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standardized procedures consistently.
  • Solid organizational skills for managing multiple cases and documentation requirements.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and field-based personnel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Anatomy knowledge highly preferred, especially musculoskeletal and orthopedic anatomy.
  • Experience or coursework in biomedical-related fields.
  • Background in design drafting or CAD-based design.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Graphic design experience, including tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • General biology knowledge that supports understanding of anatomical structures.
  • Interest in medical devices, robotic surgery, and cutting-edge healthcare technology.
  • Desire for career growth opportunities into engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery representation, or advanced roles within the department.
Work Environment

This is an in-office, first-shift position in a relatively quiet, focused atmosphere. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with voluntary overtime opportunities of up to 10 hours. During the holiday season, Saturday shifts are typically available and Sunday work is compensated at a premium rate. The team operates in a close-knit, supportive environment with a family-like feel, working together on cutting-edge technology that is a major growth driver in the medical device industry. Business casual dress attire is expected in the office.

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
