Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings preferred
• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification or equivalent credentials (EIPA, etc.)
• Ability to clearly interpret both expressive and receptive communication
• Strong understanding of confidentiality requirements in educational environments
• Collaborative attitude with teachers, staff, and families

Core Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Adapt interpreting strategies to meet individual student needs
• Support students' participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
• Maintain records in alignment with district and state guidelines
• Provide feedback on student progress as necessary
