Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
The General Production Worker plays a key role in seasonal seed production operations, supporting activities that range from receiving and processing harvested crops to cleaning, packaging, warehousing, and shipping seed. Depending on the time of year, you rotate through different tasks in the field and plant, helping ensure seed quality, safety, and timely delivery to customers. You monitor and operate equipment and facilities, follow standard operating procedures, and maintain high safety standards while working independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field, including weighing and unloading in a safe and efficient manner.
- Complete a wide range of harvest activities during the fall season, such as husk and sort operations.
- Operate crop dryers to dry seed within prescribed safety, quality, and financial requirements.
- Shell and store crop from bins in the dryer facility, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Supply the conditioning department with a consistent flow of seed to support ongoing production needs.
- Apply appropriate treatments to seed according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed during winter operations to prepare product for storage and shipment.
- Enter inventory information accurately into computer systems to maintain up-to-date records.
- Stage seed for shipment in the warehouse, organizing pallets and loads for efficient outbound logistics.
- Retag in-house seed and re-bag backhaul (returned) seed during the spring and summer seasons.
- Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and properly cleaned before use.
- Wash pro boxes as necessary to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
- Monitor and operate equipment and facilities, including field equipment and plant machinery, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Maintain safety standards at all times and initiate and follow emergency procedures when necessary.
- Rotate through various roles within the area, which may include working in a control room or other operational stations.
- Perform general production, packaging, machine operation, loading and unloading trucks, and inspection tasks as assigned.
- Work both indoors and outdoors, including walking on uneven surfaces and handling materials in agricultural environments.
- Collaborate with team members while also being able to work independently, adjusting to changing conditions and anticipating operational needs.
- Make independent decisions within the scope of your responsibilities to keep production running smoothly.

- Must not be colorblind due to the need to distinguish labels, indicators, or product markings.
- Must have and wear steel-toed shoes while on site to meet safety requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift experience is preferred and considered a nice-to-have skill.
- Experience with general labor, production, packaging, and machine operation is beneficial.
- Background in inspection, loading and unloading trucks, or farm work is an advantage.
- No formal education requirements; candidates without prior degrees are welcome.
- Comfort working in an agricultural production setting with exposure to dust and seed treatments.
- Commitment to following site rules, including strict prohibition of smoking and tobacco products on the premises.

Work Environment
This role is based in an agricultural production facility focused on seed processing and handling. The work environment includes both indoor plant areas and outdoor spaces, with exposure to corn and insecticide dust associated with treating and preparing seed for farms. You work around production equipment, dryers, shelling machinery, packaging lines, and warehouse operations, and may use forklifts and other material-handling tools if qualified. Training begins with a daytime start time and continues with onboarding during 7:00 AM–3:30 PM hours, after which you are assigned to a team working five days of 8-hour shifts on either day or night shift based on business needs. Standard shifts include a first shift from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, a second shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and a third shift from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. You must be able to work six days per week, with the specific day off staggered. The facility can appear dusty and dirty due to agricultural materials, but it is focused on seed production and operates under strict safety standards. Steel-toed shoes are required, and smoking or tobacco products are strictly prohibited anywhere on site. Dress is practical and safety-oriented, suitable for a physically active role in a production and warehouse setting.
- Pay- new- 1st $19.50, 2nd - $22.50, 3rd - $21.50
- Pay -returner – 1st $20.50, 2nd – $23.50, 3rd - $22.50
- Shift- 1st – 6:30am-3pm, 2nd – 2:30pm-11pm, 3rd – 10:30pm-7am – will work 6 days a week 48hours
This is a Contract position based out of Worthington, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.50/hr.
