Job Description

The Assembler plays a key role in building high-quality coil assemblies by safely operating overhead cranes and a variety of tools, accurately following drawings, and handling large and heavy materials. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on a production line while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lift coils using an overhead crane at the certified level and move oversized fin bundles safely and efficiently.
• Gather and organize all component parts needed for builds, including fins, casings, and hairpins.
• Set up and fixture tables correctly using braces, clamps, and endplates to prepare for assembly.
• Safely operate electric, pneumatic, floor, and hand tools throughout the assembly process.
• Align fins for build using alignment rods to ensure proper positioning and quality.
• Lace fins with hairpins or tubes according to specifications and production requirements.
• Locate, arrange, and use setup materials such as wood, cardboard, or foam to support the assembly process.
• Ream coils correctly in accordance with approved methods and quality standards.
• Extend tables to accommodate larger coils and adjust setups to handle different product sizes.
• Push or pull larger items such as pallets, hairpin carts, and coil carts while following safe material handling practices.
• Accurately read and interpret drawings and schematics to complete mechanical assembly tasks.
• Follow directions from supervisors or leads and remain open to constructive feedback.
• Work effectively as a team player, contributing to a positive and cooperative production environment.
• Perform inspection, packaging, sealing, and other assembly line tasks as needed to support manufacturing processes.
• Carry out other duties as assigned to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform mechanical assembly work.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including familiarity with manufacturing processes.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and handle heavy lifting on a regular basis.
• Excellent hand and visual dexterity for precise assembly and inspection tasks.
• Ability to stand for long periods and stoop or bend frequently during the shift.
• Skill in using power tools, hand tools, electric and pneumatic tools, and floor tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure quality, proper sealing, and correct assembly.
• Basic understanding of math to support measurement and assembly tasks.
• Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, leads, and team members.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors or leads and adhere to established procedures.
• Positive attitude and openness to constructive criticism in a fast-paced production environment.
• Capability to work on an assembly line and manage tasks related to inspection, packaging, and sealing.
• Comfort with operating hoists or overhead cranes for moving coils and other heavy materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical inspection and production processes.
• Familiarity with hoist operation and safe material handling practices.
• Background in manufacturing or assembly line work, particularly with mechanical components.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player and contribute to a collaborative culture.
• Strong work ethic and reliability, including willingness to work overtime when required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Richmond,VA.
