About this job
Job Description
You're Best Years in Orthodontics Should Still Be Ahead of You! You've already done the hard part. You've completed the training. Built the clinical confidence. Learned how to connect with patients. Experienced firsthand what makes a great practice—and probably developed some strong opinions about what doesn't.
So your next opportunity shouldn't feel like simply changing where you practice. It should feel like an upgrade.
Barbieri Orthodontics is seeking an experienced Lead Orthodontist to join our established practices in Smyrna and Brentwood, Tennessee. We're looking for a doctor who wants the clinical autonomy to practice with confidence, the opportunity to have a meaningful voice in the practices they serve, and the backing of an organization that can provide the resources to help turn good ideas into action. All within a full-time, four-day clinical workweek.
At Barbieri Orthodontics, you won't spend your first year wondering where the patients will come from.
You'll join established practices with an existing patient base, experienced teams, and operational infrastructure already in place.
That changes the conversation. Instead of asking, "How do I get this started?" You get to ask: "How good can we make this?"
How can we create an even stronger patient experience?
How can we develop a team that operates at its best?
How can we deepen our presence in Smyrna and Brentwood?
How can we continue growing while protecting the quality of care that built the practice?
And what would you do differently if you finally had the opportunity to influence those answers?
We want to find out.
The Right Amount of Autonomy. The Right Amount of Support.
Some doctors want to own a practice because they want control over how they practice—not because they've always dreamed of managing payroll, recruiting staff, overseeing marketing, troubleshooting technology, and handling the dozens of other responsibilities that come with running a business.
This opportunity offers another path.
As Lead Orthodontist, you'll have the ability to influence the clinical direction, team environment, patient experience, and growth of the practices while Southern Orthodontic Partners provides resources across key business and administrative functions.
You can be deeply invested in the success of the practice without having to personally carry every part of running it.
Your expertise stays where it creates the greatest value: with patients, people, and the practice.
A Four-Day Week That Doesn't Require a Smaller Career.
Work-life balance shouldn't have to mean putting your professional ambitions on hold.
This is a full-time opportunity structured around four clinical days per week, with occasional Saturday flexibility based on patient and practice needs. During those four days, you'll have the opportunity to lead established teams, care for a strong patient base, grow your production, strengthen the practices, and establish yourself within two Tennessee communities.
Then you have time away from the office to actually enjoy the life your career is helping you build.
A serious career and a life outside of it don't have to compete.
Two Practices. Two Communities. One Doctor Who Makes a Difference.
Smyrna and Brentwood aren't simply two locations on your schedule.
We want our Lead Orthodontist to become an important part of both practices.
That means developing relationships with patients and families. Building trust with team members. Connecting with referring providers. Becoming visible in the communities. Understanding what makes each practice unique.
Over time, success looks like something bigger than strong production.
It's hearing a parent say, "You have to go see my orthodontist."
It's having team members who are proud of the practice they're building with you.
It's seeing practice growth and knowing your relationships, leadership, and clinical reputation contributed to it.
That's the kind of impact we're interested in.
Of course, clinical performance matters.
But a Lead Orthodontist should influence much more than personal production.
We'll look to you to:
Deliver exceptional care.
Maintain high clinical standards and make treatment decisions with the autonomy and judgment expected of an experienced orthodontist.
Create confidence.
Help patients and parents understand treatment, trust the process, and feel genuinely cared for.
Strengthen the team.
Be the kind of doctor who sets expectations, communicates clearly, develops people, and creates an environment where great employees want to stay.
See opportunities.
Notice what's working—and what's not. Bring ideas forward and partner with practice leadership to continuously improve.
Grow relationships.
Build connections with referring providers and community partners that strengthen the long-term health of the practices.
Think beyond today.
Make decisions with an understanding of what they mean for the practice six months, two years, and five years from now.
