Job Description

About the Role

A commercial and industrial HVAC installer sets up, connects, and tests large-scale heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in factories, offices, and large facilities. They read blueprints, fit heavy ductwork, install complex piping or chillers, and ensure all work meets safety codes.

Schedule/Hours

50 to 60 hours per week (Monday–Saturday, five to six 10-hour shifts). Open to overtime and Sundays if needed.

Specific Responsibilities

System Setup: Mount large commercial units, chillers, and exhaust systems on roofs or inside mechanical rooms.
Blueprint Reading: Follow complex architectural and mechanical drawings to plan component placement.
Duct and Pipe Work: Fabricate, hang, and seal metal duct systems; install and insulate water, steam, or refrigerant lines.
Electrical and Controls: Wire line- and low-voltage control panels, thermostats, and automated building management systems.
Testing and Safety: Perform pressure tests, check electrical circuits, and comply with OSHA and local building codes.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience with commercial or industrial HVAC equipment.
Certifications: Universal EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants.
Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic welding or pipe-grooving skills, and ability to use diagnostic and hand tools.
Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy parts (50+ lbs), climb ladders, and work in tight or extreme outdoor weather conditions.
