Job Description
Wylander, a recruiting company focused within the disaster restoration industry, is recruiting a restoration general manager for a company located in Ventura, CA.
General Manager Compensation and Benefits:
- $95,000 plus (DOE)

The General Manager is responsible for directing, planning, and managing overall branch operations, including but not limited to: quality control, quality assurance, project management, daily operations, and customer service. The General Manager will take an active role in ensuring that projects are completed within the parameters established during the estimate and approval process. This position is also responsible for assisting in maximizing return on investment, managing profit and loss, overseeing daily operations, and planning, developing, and implementing compensation and advertising functions.
General Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee mitigation, water, fire, mold, contents, reconstruction, and other restoration operations offered by the branch.
- Ensure jobs move quickly from emergency response through completion.
- Maintain appropriate staffing, equipment, vehicles, and resources.
- Monitor cycle times and job backlogs.
- Ensure documentation, estimating, job files, photos, and required paperwork are completed properly.
- Maintain readiness for 24/7 emergency response and catastrophe events.
- Own the branch P&L and overall financial performance.
- Achieve revenue, gross-profit, and EBITDA/profit targets.
- Monitor job costing, labor efficiency, material usage, and subcontractor costs.
- Review WIP, aging jobs, billing, collections, and accounts receivable.
- Identify problem jobs early and implement corrective action.
- Hire, train, coach, and retain strong employees.
- Manage Project Managers, Estimators, Production Managers, Technicians, Coordinators, and administrative staff.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews.
- Develop future leaders and succession plans.
- Address performance and behavioral issues quickly and professionally.
General Manager Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years in construction with 5+ years of management or leadership experience
- Experience in disaster restoration, construction, or a related service industry is a plus
- Strong knowledge of branch operations and project management
- Experience managing budgets, P&L, job costing, and profitability
- Proven ability to hire, lead, develop, and hold teams accountable
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of insurance restoration, Xactimate, and industry standards preferred
