Safety Specialist Needed. 3-5 years. Onsite. Expenses Covered. Senior Level.


Project Scope
  - Support Engineering Projects & Technologies (EPP/T&P) group on the Micron site.
  - Provide EHS oversight for both ID1 and ID2 (ground-up construction).
  - Support projects through construction, commissioning, startup, and project completion phases.

Reporting Structure
  - Report directly to EHS Manager.
  - Function independently from operations leadership to maintain EHS authority and decision-making integrity.
  - Collaborate with project leadership and operations teams while maintaining an EHS reporting line within the EHS organization.

Core Responsibilities
  - Serve as the primary field EHS resource supporting construction and commissioning activities.
  - Perform routine field inspections, observations, and safety engagement activities.
  - Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements and expectations.
  - Participate in planning and coordination of work activities, including simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).
  - Support incident investigations, corrective action development, and continuous improvement efforts.
  - Assist with development and tracking of project-specific safety goals, objectives, and performance metrics.

High-Risk Work Expectations
Candidates should possess working knowledge and field oversight experience related to:
  - Confined Space Entry.
  - Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  - Electrical Safety.
  - Working at Heights / Fall Protection.
  - Permit-to-work systems and verification of worker qualifications.
  - Hazard recognition and risk mitigation associated with construction and commissioning activities.

Leadership & Safety Culture
  - Demonstrate the ability to influence safe behaviors across multiple trades and contractor groups.
  - Exercise independent judgment regarding safety-related decisions.
  - Support and promote employee engagement in safety processes and programs.
  - Participate in or help establish safety committees and employee involvement programs.

Incident Investigation & Program Management
  - Conduct or support root cause investigations.
  - Assist with Management of Change (MOC) reviews and implementation.
  - Track observations, incidents, corrective actions, and closure rates.
  - Support project KPI performance, including leading and lagging safety indicators.

Training & Professional Development
  - Deliver or support field safety training activities.
  - Develop the capability to become a trainer in key safety disciplines over time, including Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, and Lockout/Tagout.
  - Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring, and safety engagement efforts.

Ideal Candidate Attributes
  - Strong construction safety background (at least five years of construction experience).
  - Experience working in active construction and/or commissioning environments.
  - Ability to work independently while coordinating with project teams and leadership.
  - Strong communication, influence, and relationship-building skills.
  - Comfortable managing high-risk work activities and supporting multiple contractors and work scopes simultaneously.
