Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil / Heavy Highway - DIRECT HIRE

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in heavy civil, heavy highway, roadway, and bridge estimating. This is a direct-hire opportunity for a senior-level estimator with experience preparing hard bid estimates for roadway and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with roadway estimating, bottom-up estimating, HCSS estimating software, take-offs, material pricing, labor costing, equipment costing, and heavy civil project scopes. TXDOT experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hard bid estimates for heavy civil, heavy highway, roadway, and bridge projects
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and bid documents to determine full project scope
• Attend pre-bid meetings and gather information needed to complete accurate estimates
• Perform quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost calculations, equipment cost estimates, and production analysis
• Estimate projects involving concrete paving, asphalt paving, road widening, drainage lines, road reconstruction, bridge work, and roadway dirt work
• Use historical data, purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity reports to support accurate estimating
• Prepare bid package documents and maintain organized backup files for estimating figures
• Create, send, and manage subcontractor requests for proposals
• Review supplier pricing, subcontractor proposals, sales brochures, price lists, and market information
• Evaluate design options and recommend cost-effective solutions based on material availability, engineering quality, and project needs
• Support awarded contracts as needed, including extra work items, change orders, credits, and material procurement
• Work closely with project management, operations, subcontractors, vendors, and leadership throughout the estimating process

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 5 years of estimating experience preferred
• Minimum 4 years of heavy civil / heavy highway estimating experience required
• Minimum 4 years of hard bid estimating experience required
• Experience estimating concrete paving, asphalt paving, road widening, drainage, reconstruction, bridge work, and dirt work
• Minimum 4 years of experience calculating area, volume, quantities, take-offs, control, and material pricing
• Minimum 3 years of experience using estimating and scheduling software
• HCSS estimating software experience required
• Experience with software such as Primavera, Viewpoint, HeavyBid, HeavyJob, project management software, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
• Bottom-up estimating experience required
• Roadway estimating experience required
• TXDOT experience preferred
• Must be able to pass criminal and driving background checks
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job
