Project Estimator Assistant

Metalcraft Mining Equipment Rebuilders, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Project Estimator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in preparing accurate and timely proposals for mining equipment rebuilds, machining, fabrication, welding, field service, and custom manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with sales, production, vendors, and management to develop competitive project estimates.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with sales personnel to obtain customer and project details such as name, machine specs, due dates, and requirements
• Collaborate with production to determine labor hours, materials, and coordinate project needs with the Project Coordinator
• Obtain vendor pricing and verify material availability for project completion
• Prepare detailed project estimates and proposals following company procedures
• Ensure all bids are reviewed and approved by management before submission
• Submit completed proposals to customers within specified deadlines
• Track customer inquiries and monitor proposal status to ensure timely completion and submission
• Assist with follow-up activities and maintain organized estimating records
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Support special projects and other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, machining, fabrication, welding, mining equipment, heavy equipment, or industrial environments
• Estimating experience preferred but not required for candidates with strong technical and manufacturing backgrounds
