Job Title: General Laborer / Shop Helper

Job Description

We are seeking a reliable General Laborer / Shop Helper with strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine willingness to learn. In this role, you support multiple areas of a clean, well‑organized shop, including welding support, fabrication tasks, wire running, and powder coating preparation. You work closely with the team, adapt to changing needs across the shop, and grow your skills through daily hands‑on work while maintaining a strong focus on safety and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support welding operations by preparing materials, organizing components, and assisting welders as needed.
  • Perform basic fabrication tasks, including measuring, cutting, grinding, and assembling parts according to shop requirements.
  • Run wire and assist with routing and organizing wiring in accordance with shop standards and instructions.
  • Prepare parts and materials for powder coating, including cleaning, masking, and hanging components.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and saws safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Operate bandsaws and other cutting equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions.
  • Deburr and finish parts to ensure smooth edges and a clean final product.
  • Read and follow basic instructions, blueprints, or measurements using tape measures and other measuring tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to overall shop cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, using appropriate tools and equipment correctly.
  • Collaborate with team members across different parts of the shop and provide support wherever it is needed.
  • Demonstrate reliability by showing up consistently, being ready to work, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Adapt to working in different areas of the shop each day, taking on new tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers about task status, issues, and needs for assistance.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and accurately.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure to take precise measurements.
  • Experience or comfort with grinding and basic finishing work.
  • Ability to operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and saws.
  • Basic assembly skills for putting together parts and components.
  • Ability to perform fabrication tasks under guidance or instruction.
  • Comfort supporting welding operations and working around welding equipment.
  • Ability to assist with wire running and basic wiring organization.
  • Capability to perform powder coating preparation tasks, including cleaning and masking.
  • Experience or willingness to learn saw operation, including bandsaw use.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, clean finishes, and quality work.
  • Commitment to safety awareness and following shop safety procedures.
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to show up ready to work each day.
  • Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn new tasks and skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
