This full-time contract opportunity focuses on direct, onsite instruction and advocacy for 20-23 students with diverse needs. Desired Qualifications:
- Possession of an active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or appropriate certifications
- Proven experience delivering instruction to students with visual impairments in an educational setting
- Ability to adapt curriculum and materials to meet a range of learning styles and visual needs
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience managing caseloads with students at varying ages and functional levels is preferred
- Dedication to fostering independence, self-advocacy, and confidence in visually impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and learning strategies for students with vision-related needs
- Provide direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure integration and support
- Maintain compliance with IEP documentation and participate in meetings to discuss student progress
- Advocate for student accessibility in all learning environments
- Monitor and adjust interventions as student goals evolve throughout the contract period
