VisionQuest Eyecare | Greenwood, Indiana
Help Deliver an Exceptional Eye Care Experience
Vision Quest eyeCare is looking for a detail-oriented, energetic Doctor’s Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician to join our Greenwood team.
This is a hands-on, patient-facing position for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes pride in getting the details right, and can move efficiently without sacrificing accuracy or patient care.
As a Doctor’s Assistant, you’ll work closely with our doctors to prepare patients for their examinations, perform preliminary testing, gather accurate medical information, and help keep each patient visit running smoothly.
You’ll be an important connection between the patient and the doctor—and an essential part of creating the high-quality experience our patients expect.
What You’ll Do
Prepare Patients for Their Exams
- Welcome patients and help them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
- Gather and accurately document medical and ocular histories.
- Perform preliminary testing and additional testing requested by the doctor.
- Accurately enter testing results and patient information into the electronic health record.
- Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients.
- Anticipate and assist with the doctor’s needs throughout the patient visit.
Support Our Contact Lens Patients
- Teach new contact lens wearers how to properly insert and remove their lenses.
- Receive and verify patient contact lens orders.
- Assist patients with contact lens-related questions and needs.
- Help maintain inventory of trial lenses, solutions, rebates, eye drops, supplements, and related products.
Keep the Day Moving
Our practice can be busy, so successful Doctor’s Assistants know how to work with both speed and accuracy.
You’ll help maintain an efficient patient flow, stay organized as priorities change, communicate with doctors and coworkers, and make sure important details don’t get missed—even during a busy day.
Who Will Be Successful Here?
We’re especially interested in someone who is:
Highly detail-oriented. You notice the small things, document information accurately, and understand that details matter when working with patients and doctors.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy staying busy and can move efficiently from one patient or responsibility to the next.
Accurate under pressure. Working quickly doesn’t mean cutting corners. You can maintain accuracy and attention to detail even when the practice is busy.
Patient-focused. You communicate professionally, make patients feel comfortable, and understand that every interaction contributes to their overall experience.
Organized and dependable. You follow through, stay on top of responsibilities, and can be counted on by both doctors and teammates.
Eager to learn. You’re comfortable learning new procedures, equipment, technology, and clinical skills.
A team player. You communicate well, step in when needed, and understand that great patient care requires everyone working together.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least one year of customer service experience
- Strong computer and data-entry skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, personable, and patient-focused approach
- Ability to learn new procedures, technology, and clinical skills
Previous optical or eye-care experience is preferred but not required.
Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) is also preferred.
Build Your Skills in Eye Care
You don’t need to know everything on your first day.
We’re looking for someone with the right mindset and work habits—someone who is sharp, dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working at a fast pace, and genuinely enjoys helping people.
If you bring those qualities, we can help you continue developing the technical and clinical skills needed to become an important part of our eye care team.
If you’re ready for a position where accuracy matters, the days move quickly, and your work directly supports both patients and doctors, we’d like to meet you.
