Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification is required
- At least one year of experience as a VI Teacher is strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of assistive technologies, Braille instruction, and differentiated strategies for students with visual impairments
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers, families, and support staff
- Ability to adapt instruction for a range of student abilities and individualized educational plans
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instructional services to a caseload of 20-23 students with varying visual needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and adaptive technology as appropriate to students’ needs
- Consult with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans, materials, and assessments for access and inclusion
- Keep meticulous records of student progress and communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding achievements and challenges
- Advocate for students’ educational rights and access within the school setting
