Direct Support Professional

Job Summary: The DSP will be required to assist individuals living at our residential sites with various tasks as well as ensuring medicine is administered properly and all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner. 

Required Competencies: High School Degree or GED; valid driver’s license from state of residence; valid automobile insurance; and vehicle registration must be maintained if vehicle is used to transport clients

Primary Responsibilities: Administering medicine; completing documentation in a timely manner; maintaining the cleanliness of the residential site; and serving as a positive life coach for our individuals 

 

Additional Accountabilities: Preparing meals and weekly menus; assisting clients with their individual objectives; maintaining client hygiene; organizing and participating in various community activities with individuals; taking individuals to medical appointments and the ER when necessary; maintaining site groceries; assisting clients with fiduciary responsibilities; participating in staff planning meetings; and other tasks that arise in a residential setting

Preferred Competencies: Good communication skills; personal accountability; and an ability to work well on a team

Physical Demands: Regularly required to verbally communicate, use hands, physically assist clients, and possess the physical capacity to reasonably perform his/her job.   

Required qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 18 years or older

Preferred qualifications:

• 6+ months of experience in the personal care & services industry
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Own a personal vehicle
• Valid driver's license
• Valid auto liability insurance
• Background check
• Drug screening
