Position Summary
The A&P Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft to meet Company, FAA, and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzes blueprints, drawings, work orders, and sketches to troubleshoot, repair, and install aircraft parts and components, identifying and correcting errors through proper departmental channels.
- Schedules work through the shop to maintain on-time deliveries.
- Inspects mechanical components prior to installation to prevent damage.
- Accurately estimates hours and materials required for scheduled jobs.
- Operates required ground support equipment.
- Installs and rigs aircraft flight control surfaces, operates aircraft systems, and performs engine run-up and trim procedures as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems, accessories, components, and hardware, and current FAA regulations.
- Thorough working knowledge of Maintenance Manuals (MM), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and other manufacturer repair and troubleshooting documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and task cards to determine configuration and special instructions prior to installation.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Heavy physical effort required on occasion, with continuous mental and visual attention required.
- Work performed primarily in a shop environment, with occasional travel to line stations and the possibility of working at different workstations or shifting between station locations as needed.
- Appropriate PPE (e.g., safety glasses) required as designated in each work area.
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers an hourly rate of $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, along with medical, vision, and dental coverage, long-term disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with a Company match of 50% on the first 6% contributed. Additional voluntary benefits include short-term disability, supplemental life insurance, and flexible spending accounts, along with paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
Important Employment Information
- FAA Certificate Contingency: This position requires holding and maintaining a valid FAA A&P certificate in good standing at all times. Any suspension, revocation, or lapse of this certificate may result in termination of employment.
- Pre-Employment & Random Drug and Alcohol Testing: This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 120) and DOT procedures (49 CFR Part 40). All applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment must successfully pass a drug test screening for marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines (including methamphetamine and MDMA), opioids (including codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, and oxymorphone), and phencyclidine (PCP) prior to beginning work. Employees are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations throughout their employment.
- Background Check: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Work Authorization / Form I-9: All new hires must provide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States, as required by federal law (Form I-9).
- E-Verify Participation: MAC participates in the E-Verify program. Upon hire, MAC will provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
- Airport Security Badging: Depending on specific duties and travel to line stations, this position may require an airport-issued security badge, including fingerprinting and a security threat assessment under TSA regulations.
